ISLAMABAD; The mysterious death of Islamabad’s SP Industrial Zone, Adeel Akbar, has raised serious questions about mental health and workplace pressure within the police department. According to sources, the senior police officer had been suffering from dengue fever for several days before the incident.
Reports suggest that tensions in the department had escalated recently following a robbery in the Industrial Zone, which reportedly angered senior officers.
Sources claim that SP Adeel Akbar was reprimanded after requesting leave due to illness. He was also allegedly assigned two separate law and order duties on the same day despite his deteriorating health.
It is further reported that the officer had been under immense mental stress and appeared deeply disturbed by the ongoing situation. Just minutes before the tragic incident, he reportedly received a phone call, during which the caller allegedly used language that hurt his self-respect.
According to preliminary accounts, following this call, SP Adeel Akbar shot himself. Police authorities have yet to issue an official statement, but internal inquiries are underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to his death.
The case has sparked debate about the pressures faced by law enforcement officials and the urgent need for institutional support systems for officers dealing with stress and illness.
