DATTA KHEL; Security forces killed 11 terrorists during intelligence-based operations in the Datta Khel area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s North Waziristan district over the past 48 hours, the military’s media wing said on Sunday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security personnel carried out a series of intelligence-based operations and engaged multiple terrorist hideouts in the area.
The statement said that after intense exchanges of fire, 11 militants linked to what it described as India-sponsored “Fitna-al-Khawarij” were killed.
ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were allegedly involved in several terrorist activities in the region.
The military added that sanitisation operations were continuing to clear the area of any remaining militants. It said Pakistan’s armed forces and law enforcement agencies would continue their counter-terrorism campaign under “Azm-i-Istehkam” with full force to eliminate militancy and foreign-backed terrorism from the country.
Earlier this week, the military had announced the killing of 22 more militants in separate operations in North Waziristan.
Security operations have intensified across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan amid a rise in militant attacks targeting security personnel and law enforcement agencies.
Last week, five soldiers, including a major-ranked officer, were martyred during a sanitisation operation in Barkhan district of Balochistan.
In a follow-up operation, authorities said at least three commanders of armed groups operating in Balochistan were arrested, while 35 militants were killed.
Earlier this month, five militants were killed in separate operations in Tank and Dera Ismail Khan, while eight militants were also killed near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in North Waziristan in early April.
