Beijing: China’s logistics sector continued its steady expansion in the first five months of the year, with total industry revenue reaching 5.6 trillion yuan, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 4.2 percent, according to data released by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing.
Chinese media reports indicate that the scale of the logistics market is widening, overall operations remain stable, and the structural transformation of the sector is progressing steadily.
Between January and May, the total volume of containers transported nationwide via rail and waterways rose to 6.833 million TEUs, marking an 18.4 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Business revenue among key logistics enterprises grew by 6.5 percent year on year.
In May alone, civil aviation cargo volumes registered an annual growth of 16.6 percent, while international air cargo capacity maintained strong momentum, surging 26.3 percent. The China–Central Asia Railway Express also saw significant expansion, with 1,321 trains operating during the month, up 30.9 percent from a year earlier.
