LAHORE (MNN); Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb on Saturday met a high-level delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to review ongoing and proposed development projects across key sectors including health, education, agriculture, flood management, climate resilience and infrastructure.
During the meeting, the minister briefed the delegation on Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharifās vision for transparent, technology-driven development. She introduced the Punjab One Map initiative, a comprehensive digital platform integrating data on land, infrastructure, population and underground utilities to support evidence-based planning and efficient governance.
Highlighting reforms in the education and health sectors, Marriyum Aurangzeb shared details of demand-driven planning for medical districts, establishment of state-of-the-art cardiac catheterisation laboratories, and the expansion of urban safety initiatives. She said the Safe City Project would be extended to all 36 districts of Punjab by June, while work is also underway to deliver 160,000 housing units.
She further outlined progress on e-mobility initiatives, including metro lines, e-buses and e-bikes, which are being launched in Gujranwala and Faisalabad to promote sustainable transport.
In the agriculture sector, the minister emphasised mechanisation, development of agri-business malls, promotion of aquaculture, and the distribution of 20,000 agricultural spreaders and mulchers to farmers. She also discussed provincial efforts in flood control, irrigation reforms, climate action, cold storage facilities, logistics and value addition, noting the establishment of the regionās first climate observatory.
The ADB delegation appreciated Punjabās reform agenda, digital governance framework and agricultural initiatives, and assured continued support in areas such as value addition, export promotion and fisheries development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Marriyum Aurangzeb invited the ADB delegation to attend the upcoming Basant Festival in Punjab.
