Imran Khan Speaks to Sons After Court Order; Family Demands Urgent Medical Treatment

Web Desk (MNN); Aleema Khan, sister of jailed PTI founder Imran Khan, confirmed on Saturday that the former premier was able to speak with his sons for about 20 minutes and was “extremely happy to hear their voices.”

The development follows a directive from the Supreme Court of Pakistan, which on Thursday ordered the formation of a medical board to examine Imran after his counsel, Salman Safdar, submitted a report stating that the former prime minister had lost 85 per cent of the vision in his right eye. The court also instructed authorities to facilitate a conversation between him and his children.

In a post on X, Aleema said the chief justice had directed that Imran be allowed to speak to his sons, confirming that the conversation lasted approximately 20 minutes. According to her, his sons shared that he was overjoyed to hear their voices after such a long separation.

She further stated that the family is now awaiting his immediate medical treatment at Shifa International Hospital under the supervision of his personal doctors. She emphasized that specialist physicians must make every effort to restore his eyesight.

Aleema alleged that delays in providing timely medical care had already harmed his vision and warned that any further postponement would be unacceptable. She stressed the need for urgent specialist intervention to prevent permanent vision loss.

It is noteworthy that Imran’s sons, Kasim Khan and Sulaiman Khan, have repeatedly stated over the past year that they have not been permitted to meet their father since his arrest.

Following the submission of the medical report in court, Kasim described the reported vision loss as a consequence of prolonged solitary confinement and alleged medical neglect. He claimed that only 15 per cent eyesight remains in his father’s right eye and attributed the deterioration to what he termed 922 days of isolation and denial of adequate treatment, including blood tests.

Kasim further alleged that the responsibility for his father’s declining health rests with the authorities in power, asserting that the justice system has been manipulated to keep Imran in solitary confinement. He also claimed that he and his brother are still being denied visas to visit their father as his health worsens.
