News Desk (MNN); Security forces eliminated nine militants, including a suicide bomber, during intelligence-based operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to statements released on Monday by Inter-Services Public Relations.
In a separate incident, three personnel of the Federal Constabulary were martyred in a terrorist attack in Karak district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to a police spokesperson, militants first launched a quadcopter attack on the Federal Constabulary fort located in the Dargah Shaheedan area.
The militaryās media wing stated that an intelligence-based operation was conducted in Dera Ismail Khan on the reported presence of militants described as belonging to the Indian proxy Fitna-al-Khawarij, a term used by the state for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan. During the operation, security forces effectively engaged the militants, and after an intense exchange of fire, four were killed. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain militants, who were said to be involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area.
Earlier, security forces carried out another intelligence-based operation in Pishin district of Balochistan, where five militants, including a suicide bomber, were killed. According to the statement, the militantsā formation was engaged with multiple weapons. During the firefight, the suicide bomber detonated himself while four other militants were shot dead. Arms, ammunition and explosives were seized from the site. The statement added that the militants had been actively involved in numerous terrorist acts in the region.
The military reiterated that sanitisation operations were underway to eliminate any remaining militants in the area. It emphasized that the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the vision āAzm-i-Istehkam,ā approved by the Federal Apex Committee under the National Action Plan, would continue at full pace to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.
Separately, the spokesperson for the Counter-Terrorism Department of Balochistan confirmed the Pishin operation, stating that the militants had planned attacks on Police Lines and Cadet College Pishin.
President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for their successful operation in Pishin, as reported by Radio Pakistan. The president said the operation reflected the nationās resolve against terrorism and vowed that the fight would continue until its complete eradication. The prime minister stated that security forces were making steady progress against terrorist groups with courage and determination and reaffirmed that the nation stood united with the armed forces and law enforcement agencies.
Earlier this month, the Counter-Terrorism Department reported that 14 suspected militants were killed in separate operations in Quetta and Barkhan districts. Additionally, security forces killed four militants in Lakki Marwat during another intelligence-based operation.
Meanwhile, details of the Karak attack revealed that militants detonated four explosive rounds during the initial assault, injuring four Federal Constabulary personnel. Rescue 1122 teams reached the scene to shift the injured to hospital, but ambulances were ambushed near Ghole Banda Dam, resulting in the martyrdom of three Federal Constabulary personnel and injuries to three Rescue 1122 officials. The ambulances were also set on fire.
Rescue spokesperson Asif Khan said two injured rescue workers were in critical condition. Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party, Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, condemned the attack, calling it cowardly and inhumane. He stated that those who fired on an ambulance had rejected the teachings of Islam and paid tribute to the martyred personnel, offering condolences to their families.
Recent weeks have seen a surge in attacks in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the Annual Security Report 2025 by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, fatalities in the province increased from 1,620 in 2024 to 2,331 in 2025, marking a rise of 711 deaths and a 44 percent year-on-year increase in violence.
