KARACHI (MNN); The National Logistics Corporation has formally expressed interest in acquiring a 30 percent stake in the Pakistan National Shipping Corporation along with transfer of management control, according to an official disclosure.
In a statement submitted to the Pakistan Stock Exchange, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation said it had received a communication from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs. The ministry forwarded a letter from the National Logistics Corporation outlining its plan to purchase the minority stake and assume management control of the national flag carrier.
The development signals a potential restructuring in Pakistan’s state-owned maritime and logistics sectors. The proposed transaction is expected to be processed in line with regulatory requirements and government approvals.
Pakistan National Shipping Corporation is the country’s national flag carrier operating under the administrative control of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs. It manages a fleet of vessels engaged in transporting crude oil, petroleum products and dry bulk cargo, playing a critical role in ensuring Pakistan’s energy and trade security.
The National Logistics Corporation, one of the country’s largest logistics organizations, operates an extensive network covering road freight, dry ports and supply chain management. Analysts believe that closer integration between maritime shipping and inland logistics could enhance efficiency, reduce transportation costs and strengthen Pakistan’s trade infrastructure.
