ISLAMABAD (MNN); The military’s media affairs wing said on Thursday that security forces killed 10 terrorists during an operation in Zhob, Balochistan.
According to a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), an intelligence-based operation on February 24 had already neutralized eight Indian-sponsored terrorists. On Wednesday, security forces conducted a comprehensive sanitisation operation to hunt down hiding militants belonging to the Indian-backed Fitna al Khwarij, a term used by the state for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
“During the operation, our forces tracked militants on multiple routes and effectively engaged their locations. After an ensuing firefight, 10 Indian-sponsored khwarij were eliminated,” the ISPR statement said. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from the terrorists, who had been actively involved in multiple terrorist incidents in the area.
The statement added that sanitisation operations would continue to eliminate any other Indian-sponsored terrorists in the region. Security forces and law enforcement agencies would maintain full operational pace to eliminate the threat of foreign-backed terrorism from Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, according to state-run APP, praised the operation and the security forces, saying that in line with the Azm-i-Istehkam vision, major successes were being achieved against terrorism. He said the nation stood united with the army and expressed determination to eliminate all forms of terrorism from the country.
Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti also lauded the operation on social media, calling it proof of the security forces’ professional expertise and resolute commitment. He stated that Azm-i-Istehkam would continue until stability was restored in Balochistan.
