RAWALPINDI (MNN); An important meeting of the World Peace Jirga Program (WPJP) was held at the Rawalpindi Press Club on April 4, 2026, where the organizationâs leadership reiterated its commitment to promoting peace, stability, and national unity across Pakistan.
The event also featured the oath-taking ceremony of Adnan Khan Shinwari as President of WPJP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Members congratulated him and expressed confidence in his ability to strengthen peace initiatives in the province.
The session was attended by Chairman Rahatullah Khan Baba, Women Peace Jirga Program Chairperson Sadia Khan Bibi, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa President Adnan Khan Shinwari.
Participants highlighted that the WPJP has been actively working for years to promote harmony, dialogue, and peaceful conflict resolution through the traditional jirga system in various regions of the country.
On the occasion, the leadership paid tribute to Asim Munir for his services to Pakistan, particularly his role in fostering peace and stability amid evolving national and regional challenges. Attendees appreciated his leadership in safeguarding national security and promoting prosperity.
The leadership further stated that such contributions deserve global recognition and suggested that Asim Munir should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for his role in regional stability and global peace efforts.
WPJP also announced a series of upcoming international engagements. Delegations are scheduled to visit the United Arab Emirates (Dubai), Qatar, Bahrain, Riyadh, United Kingdom, and United States during June, July, and August this year. The visits will include meetings with overseas Pakistanis, international partners, and donor conferences aimed at securing support for peace, development, and welfare initiatives in Pakistan.
Addressing the gathering, the leadership reiterated that WPJPâs mission is to promote peace, unity, and national cohesion. The organization affirmed its continued support for Pakistanâs armed forces and national institutions in efforts to ensure the countryâs stability and prosperity.
Speakers also acknowledged the contributions of Rahatullah Khan Baba toward peace efforts, noting his relation to Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai. It was also shared that his daughter, Hina Khan, has been nominated for the same honor, reflecting the familyâs longstanding commitment to education, peace, and humanitarian service.
