ISLAMABAD (MNN); A controversy surrounding allegations of misconduct by Islamabad Police came to an end after a Chinese national withdrew her accusations against female police officers, describing the incident as a misunderstanding and apologizing for the confusion caused.
The matter attracted widespread public attention after a video circulated on social media in which the Chinese woman alleged that she had been mistreated and assaulted by female police personnel at Kohsar Police Station. The video quickly went viral, triggering public concern and prompting calls for an impartial investigation.
According to official sources, the incident stemmed from a financial and tenancy dispute involving the woman and her landlord in Islamabad’s F-6 sector. Police were reportedly called to the scene by the complainant herself to seek assistance in resolving the matter.
Following the circulation of the allegations, Islamabad Police initiated a departmental inquiry to ascertain the facts. SSP Operations directed the Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Kohsar to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the incident and submit a detailed report.
In a subsequent video statement, the Chinese national retracted her earlier allegations, explaining that the video had been shared due to a misunderstanding. She clarified that her grievance was with her landlord and not with the Islamabad Police.
The woman further acknowledged that police officials had treated her professionally, cooperated with her throughout the incident and provided the necessary assistance. She expressed regret over the misunderstanding and apologized to Islamabad Police for any inconvenience caused.
With the complainant formally withdrawing her allegations, the controversy has largely subsided. However, the departmental inquiry initiated by Islamabad Police is expected to continue in accordance with established procedures to ensure transparency and accountability.
