THE HAGUE (Monitoring Desk): U.S. President Donald Trump lauded Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, calling him “an exceptional human being and an inspiring personality” during a press conference at the conclusion of a summit in The Hague. President Trumpt highlighted a personal meeting between the two.
Trump said that Field Marshal Asim Munir had visited him at his office, leaving a strong impression on him.
In his remarks, Trump reiterated the key role the U.S. played in de-escalating tensions between nuclear-armed neighbors Pakistan and India, stating, “We stopped the war between Pakistan and India—two major nuclear powers—and urged them to pursue trade instead.”
During the same press conference, Trump touched on global diplomatic efforts, noting that Iran had fought bravely and that negotiations or even a potential agreement with Iran could occur as early as next week. He emphasized America’s openness to dialogue with any nation willing to engage in talks.
Responding to a question on Iran’s economic needs, Trump said the country requires funding for reconstruction, while also commenting on China’s autonomy regarding oil imports from Iran. He concluded by praising the NATO summit, calling it a “tremendous” event.
