ISLAMABAD (MNN); Federal Minister and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon, met senior MQM-Pakistan leader and Member of the National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar at the Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Secretariat in Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss the Kashmir issue and ways to strengthen national unity on the cause.
The meeting was attended by former Federal Minister Aminul Haque, MQM leader Zahid Malik, MQM Azad Kashmir President Shah Faisal, and Sundas Malik.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon paid tribute to the unwavering sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and reiterated Pakistan’s continued political, diplomatic, and moral support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
He said Pakistan’s success against India in the recent Marka-e-Haq reflected the nation’s unity and determination, describing it as a historic achievement for the country.
The minister expressed concern over the continued detention of Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders in Indian jails and alleged that India was attempting to alter the demographic composition of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) through the issuance of fake domiciles. He termed the move a violation of international law and United Nations resolutions.
Rana Qasim Noon stressed the need to organize a National Kashmir Conference, bringing together all political parties, parliamentarians, experts, intellectuals, civil society representatives, youth, and Kashmiri leadership to build a stronger national consensus and effectively present the Kashmiri people’s stance before the international community.
Sundas Malik also underlined the importance of raising the Kashmir issue more effectively at international forums and appreciated Rana Qasim Noon’s continued efforts in promoting the Kashmir cause.
Addressing the meeting, Dr Farooq Sattar said MQM-Pakistan was not represented in the parliamentary committee working on the Kashmir issue, adding that all political parties should be included in efforts related to this important national cause.
Rana Qasim Noon agreed with the proposal, emphasizing that national unity and broader political consensus were essential for effectively advocating the Kashmir cause.
Dr Farooq Sattar further stated that a lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute could only be achieved through political engagement and diplomatic efforts.
The federal minister also appreciated MQM-Pakistan’s contributions to public welfare, particularly in the field of education, describing the party’s efforts to promote education as commendable.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon presented bouquets and traditional Kashmiri scarves to the visiting delegation as commemorative gifts.
