NEW YORK (MNN); US President Donald Trump has said that a US team held a three-hour meeting with an Iranian delegation on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, describing the talks as “very good.”
Speaking to reporters, Trump said the meeting had taken place about an hour before his remarks and lasted approximately three hours.
Asked to confirm whether the meeting had taken place, Trump replied: “It was a meeting that lasted for three hours; it ended an hour ago.”
Trump described the discussions positively, saying: “It was a very good meeting.”
When asked how he felt following the talks, Trump responded: “I feel very good right now.”
Trump also used strong language while describing the choice facing Iran, saying: “It’s greatness or obliteration.”
The reported meeting comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran and renewed diplomatic efforts surrounding Iran’s nuclear programme, regional security and the wider conflict in the Middle East.
