RAWALPINDI (MNN); Rawalpindi Traffic Police has officially activated the Safe City camera system across the city, marking the start of automated e-challans for traffic violations.
Over 2,000 cameras have been installed at 359 locations to monitor the movement of motorcycles and vehicles.
According to officials, the system will automatically issue challans for violations such as failing to wear helmets, not using seat belts, and signal violations.
These e-challans, carrying photographs and verification codes, will be delivered to the vehicle ownerâs registered home address.
The e-challan system is directly linked to the Safe City Command and Control Centre. Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Rawalpindi, Farhan Aslam, said the cameras will not only improve traffic control but also support broader law enforcement efforts.
He added that the Safe City system will enhance traffic management and allow traffic wardens to focus more on ensuring smooth traffic flow. The system will also facilitate continuous monitoring of traffic across the city,
