ISLAMABAD (MNN); Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Shehzad said on Sunday that record remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis reflect increasing confidence in the governmentās economic policies and overall direction.
In a statement, he said remittance inflows in December 2025 surpassed $3.6 billion, registering a significant rise compared to previous months. According to the adviser, the figure was 17 percent higher than December 2024 and 13 percent higher than November 2025.
Shehzad noted that during the first half of the ongoing fiscal year 2025-26, total remittances amounted to $19.7 billion, representing a substantial 41 percent increase compared to the same period last year. He expressed optimism that total remittance inflows during the full fiscal year would cross the $41 billion mark.
Providing a country-wise breakdown, he said Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of remittances in December, contributing $813 million. The United Arab Emirates followed with $726 million, while the United Kingdom sent $560 million and the United States contributed $302 million.
The adviser said the sharp growth in remittance inflows highlighted the vital role played by overseas Pakistanis in strengthening the national economy. He added that sustained engagement and trust from expatriates was a positive indicator for long-term economic stability, sustainable development and a more secure future for the country.
