LAHORE (MNN); Actor and model Momina Iqbal on Friday submitted an application to Chung Police seeking registration of a first information report against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz MPA Saqib Chadhar over allegations of harassment, blackmail and death threats.
In her complaint, Momina alleged that the lawmaker had repeatedly made threatening phone calls to harass both her and her fiancé.
She claimed that the MPA became abusive after she rejected his marriage proposal upon learning that he was already married to two women.
According to the application, the accused later began blackmailing her. Momina also referred to WhatsApp messages and video calls allegedly made by the suspect.
The actor further alleged that similar threatening messages were also sent to her sisterâs mobile phone.
Reports said Momina visited Chung Police Station along with her legal team, where she met Station House Officer Faheem Imdad and briefed him about the matter.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz warned that any attempt to use political influence, pressure or threats involving the release of personal content in the case would face strict action.
In a post on X, the chief minister stated that the matter was a personal dispute and would be handled strictly on merit and according to the law.
Earlier, in a social media statement tagging the leadership of Pakistan Muslim League (N), Momina alleged that she had been facing online harassment, cyberbullying and death threats for a prolonged period.
She claimed that both she and her family had suffered severe mental stress and trauma due to the alleged actions of the lawmaker, whose identity she initially did not disclose publicly.
Momina further alleged that despite repeatedly approaching the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency and the Federal Investigation Agency, no action was taken on her complaints.
She also claimed that instead of ensuring justice, attempts were allegedly made to suppress her complaints and discourage her from pursuing the matter.
