PESHAWAR; Police in Peshawar have registered a case regarding the alleged abduction of PTI activist Sanam Javed near the Civil Officersâ Mess late Monday night.
The FIR, lodged at the Sharqi Police Station in the early hours of Tuesday, was filed by Javedâs friend Hira Babar, who was accompanying her at the time. According to the FIR, the incident occurred around 10:40pm, as they were returning from dinner.
Babar stated that their vehicle was blocked by a green Vigo, and when they attempted to turn around, a white car intercepted them from behind. âFive men got out and tried to force Sanam into their car,â she said, adding that despite their cries for help, nearby officers and security personnel did not intervene. She claimed the abductors took Sanam âtowards the Red Zone.â
The case has been registered under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code, which deals with kidnapping for wrongful confinement.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa CM spokesperson said Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has ordered an immediate investigation and promised strict action against those involved.
Meanwhile, PTI strongly condemned the alleged abduction, calling it âshameful and deeply disturbing,â and a violation of human rights. Party leaders demanded accountability and justice.
Sanam Javed has faced multiple legal cases in the past, including charges related to the May 9 incidents and social media posts against state institutions. Earlier this year, she was arrested during a PTI rally outside Aiwan-i-Adl.
