ISLAMABAD (MNN); Malaysia’s 69th National Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at a reception hosted at the Islamabad Serena Hotel on Wednesday, bringing together senior officials, diplomats, dignitaries and members of the Malaysian community.
Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Rana Tanveer Hussain attended the ceremony as the chief guest, alongside Malaysian High Commissioner Dato Azhar bin Mazlan and a large gathering of diplomats and distinguished guests.
The ceremony opened with the national anthems of Malaysia and Pakistan, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony. The chief guest, Malaysian High Commissioner and other guests jointly cut the cake to mark the occasion and highlight the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
In his address, Rana Tanveer Hussain congratulated the Malaysian people and government on their National Day and praised Malaysia’s economic development and progress. He described Malaysia as an example of economic advancement and regional cooperation.
The minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with Malaysia, particularly in trade, food security and economic cooperation.
Malaysian High Commissioner Dato Azhar bin Mazlan thanked the Government of Pakistan for its hospitality and support. He highlighted the longstanding ties between Malaysia and Pakistan, describing the relationship as rooted in shared values, mutual respect and a common desire for regional prosperity.
The celebration also featured a traditional Malaysian cultural performance, giving guests an opportunity to experience the country’s cultural heritage. The ceremony concluded with dinner featuring a selection of Malaysian cuisine.
The National Day reception highlighted the continuing diplomatic, economic and people-to-people ties between Pakistan and Malaysia.
