ISLAMABAD (MNN) Special Report: The transfer of PTI founder Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital on the direction of the Supreme Court of Pakistan has triggered speculation in political and public circles about the government’s future and the possibility of a deal involving PTI.
At the same time, questions have emerged over the court’s direction to include Imran Khan’s sister, Dr. Uzma Khan, in the medical board associated with Shifa Hospital.
The development has sparked a separate debate in social circles over whether Dr. Uzma Khan is a formally qualified and registered medical practitioner and, if so, what her professional qualifications are, or whether her inclusion in the medical board was primarily linked to her relationship with the PTI founder.
A review of publicly available information, including PMDC’s searchable records, older newspaper reports and recent credible media reports, found that Dr. Uzma Khan is identified as Imran Khan’s sister and has been described by several sources as a surgeon. The Times reportedly referred to her in May 2026 as a retired surgeon.
However, a verifiable public profile under her name could not be located in the publicly searchable online records that would independently establish the medical college or university from which she obtained her MBBS degree or confirm specific postgraduate qualifications.
One website claims that she obtained her MBBS from a medical college in Lahore, but the source is non-official and the claim could not be independently verified. Similarly, general biographical sources describe her as a retired surgeon based in Lahore but do not clearly specify an MBBS institution or postgraduate qualifications such as FCPS, MS or FRCS.
The review also found no independently verifiable qualification record in the publicly accessible PMDC search results under which her credentials could conclusively be established.
It would therefore be inappropriate to attribute the PMDC record of another individual named Dr. Uzma Khan to Imran Khan’s sister without further verification.
The issue remains one requiring clarification through official records, particularly regarding her medical registration, educational qualifications and professional status.
